The Shop with a Kappa event, hosted by the Sarasota (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., in partnership with Walmart, was a meaningful and impactful experience that brought together members of the community for a day of service, generosity, and fellowship.
Students from Samoset, Booker, and Visible Men Elementary Schools were paired with Kappa volunteers and provided with a $50 gift card, allowing each student the opportunity to select a gift of their choice. The shopping experience created an atmosphere of excitement and empowerment, as students explored the store and made thoughtful selections with guidance and encouragement from the brothers of Kappa.
Additional support was provided by the chapter’s Silhouettes and the Delta Gems, whose volunteer efforts played a vital role in the success of the event. The Silhouettes assisted with chapter registration, ensuring a smooth and organized process, while the Delta Gems escorted students to the toy section and distributed books to each child as they exited, reinforcing the importance of both joy and literacy.
Throughout the event, the spirit of mentorship, service, and collaboration was on full display, highlighting the chapter’s ongoing commitment to youth development and community uplift. Smiles, laughter, and gratitude filled the store, reflecting the positive impact of intentional outreach and meaningful engagement.
