Kappa League
A leadership program for young men in grades 6–12, built by the Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi to turn potential into achievement on the Suncoast and across the country.
The Kappa Leadership & Development League is a program designed to aid young men of high school age to grow and develop their leadership talents in every phase of human endeavor. Kappa League provides both challenging and rewarding experiences to enhance their lives. Since the fundamental purpose of Kappa Alpha Psi is ACHIEVEMENT, it is therefore the Fraternity’s primary purpose to help these young men achieve worthy goals for themselves, and make constructive contributions to their community when they assume leadership roles.
Kappa League was founded on February 12, 1969, when the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. began working with young men at Alain LeRoy Locke High School. The Grand Chapter adopted the program nationwide in 1970, and it’s carried the same purpose into every chapter since: helping young men choose a path, stay on it, and lead once they arrive. Here in Sarasota and Bradenton, that work continues through the Chapter’s Project Guide Right initiative — Brothers showing up, year after year, for the next generation.
Kappa League isn’t a single event — it’s a standing commitment. Every part of the program points toward the same goal: young men who know where they’re headed and how they’ll get there.
Guiding Youth Toward Career-Aligned Education Choices
To help youth, especially those of high school graduating classes, in their selection of courses leading to vocations compatible with their aptitudes and personalities.
Supporting Students
To assist students, while they are training, to get started in the employment, and to progress successfully in their chosen fields.
Empowering Youth and Supporting Parents for a Brighter Future
To assist parents in the handling of their children by giving them the opportunities to talk over their problems with those who know and are successful in their chosen vocations.
Enrichment Beyond the Classroom
To afford the less fortunate youths a respite from the drudgery of the streets, through sponsored trips to ball games, zoological garden, museums, theater, and other activities.
The Value of Higher Education
To inform youth of the values of higher education, assistance available for continued pursuits, scholarship, loans, professional opportunities, and of current labor demands and the trends on the effect of these demands and trends on the labor market.
Kappa League is a career-development program for male students in grades 6th-12th. The nucleus and primary focus of the program revolves around five areas of development.
